Doctor loses license in live birth abortion.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/02/06/florida.abortion/index.html

"What this is about is right and wrong and making a statement, making sure it doesn't happen to other young women." said by Tom Pennekamp, her attorney. Abortion has been an ongoing debate between right and wrong. There is no actual "right" answer that science nor religion can prove about abortion. However, when a child is born there is no question. All can agree that having to witness your newborn child killed is inhumane. Some will argue that abortion is no different to this disaster;the actual sacrifice of an individual both have in common but i believe having a front row seat to your child's death is far worse. What Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacques Renelique did is undeniably wrong and consequences should be given; but to what extent and to which doom should he face is questionable. The fight between when a child should be considered "alive" is a present debate and the only logic that suits either advocate is that when the baby is born he/she is definitely alive. And when you kill a live human being that is murder. The fact that this was a death from an intended abortion puts a twist on things. Should this have affect on how we view this information or how we act on it? Or is this no different then if she was to have the proper procedure? It's obvious Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacques Renelique should lose his license but is that all he should be sentenced? Killing the baby right after birth was wrong and in any other case would be considered murder but I'm not sure if that applies here. I do believe there is a difference between having an abortion and having a baby then it being thrown away. In his defense the baby was to die anyway but there is no denying that what he did is kill a live human, which is murder. Put yourself in Sycloria's shoes, how would you feel?
What do you feel this doctor's right punishment is?
Is this situation any different from a usual abortion procedure?
Is you're stance on the abortion debate even relevant when reading this article?

  1. If I was in Sycloria’s position, words cannot describe the pain and disbelief that I would feel. Before reading the article, I had compassion for Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacques Renelique. I had a small thought of him not being aware that the infant was alive until after the death. However, after reading this article I’m shocked. This was no accident, this was straightforward murder. The doctor should certainly get his license revoked, along with an understandable amount of time in prison. However, I believe that those co workers present at birth should receive an even harsher punishment, especially the co worker who placed that baby in the bag. I think that this situation was different from the rest. This baby was actually alive, not to say that any other fetus isn’t during the abortion process, but this baby seemed as though it was noticeably alive. My stance on the abortion debate is nowhere near relevant while reading this article, because I am still undecided with many unanswered questions.

  2. If I was the father of that child I would press charges on the entire staff of that hospital. I agree with "Brittly" that before reading this article, I too had a bit of compassion for this doctor. After reading the article though I do not have the slightest bit of compassion for this doctor. The man deserves to get his license revoked, and thrown in jail in the process. As for the coworkers, the ones who were actually the ones who put the baby in the red bag and threw it in the trash; they should be in jail as well. I disagree with abortion all together, but this wasn't an abortion, it was murder. I hope the doctor in the staff gets everything they deserve after commiting this crime.
