Go to TALKING POINTS videos and click on the 5th video labeled TALKING POINTS: 1/13 – Blanket Amnesty for Illegal Aliens.
The debate on illegal immigration into the United States can get heated and divisive. Some believe America is the “Land of Opportunity” and all are welcome to share the freedoms Americans do. I believe this is totally possible if done in the right way, legally. Legal immigration is great, besides that’s how most of our ancestors came here in the first place; but blanket amnesty to illegals that are already here will do nothing but hurt this nation and stretch our funds on health care, welfare, and education even more. This is the case because illegals do not pay taxes, but at the same time get educated in our school and receive healthcare. I believe this is not far to taxpaying, law abiding citizens of the United States. The United States needs to strengthen the boards and root out this problem.
Do agree with O’Reilly’s views or do you disagree? Why or Why not? And do you have any other solutions to the problem or is blanket amnesty the right way to handle the issue?

Overall, if they are here illeageally, then they deserve no blanket amnesty and they should all be deported. It would be different if they actually attempted to become a citizen and put back in our economy, but in my eyes that isn't the case. You have some that actually try to become citizens, but for those who never had any intention of becoming a citizen, why should they be allowed amnesty. I see it as taking from our economy and not putting anything back in it. They are putting what they gain from our economy , back into the economy of their native lands. As for what Cardinal Mahoney says, the fact that a majority of the immigrants are Catholic should have nothing at all to do with it. I think his opinion is very biased and should not have even be considered on O'Rilly's show. Also the statement "people should sympathize with the downtrodden all over the world" raises a red flag. We have enough issues in America, when it comes to homeless, healthcare and children living below poverty. But I guess we are expected to worry about every other place in the world, except for our own nation. Bottom line if they want to live here and have the right each citizen has, they need to become citizens. And not expect the country to cater to their needs.

ReplyDeleteAfter watching the video on immigration, the first thing that popped in my head was,"is that cardinal saying that I should pay for illegal immigrants that don't pay taxes and don't put back into the economy." This guy has to be out of his mind, we have too many issues and things to pay for other than illegals that come in and suck up the resources dry and don't give anything else back. I think that in order to be admitted to the US you must be ready to pay your dues. You will have to work your way to prove that you deserve the citizenship.
